Lola The Vamp

The darling of burlesque, Tease-o-rama headliner (USA), Penthouse Pet, Tabloid Sensation, Artist’s Muse.

Lola’s list of credits reads like no other. From headlining the inaugural Burlesque Ball, to nighclubs, festivals and carnivales across the globe, few performers have garnered such intense media attention and breathless reviews.

Since her 2002 American debut, Lola has performed at venues such as the prestigious Assembly Ballroom at the Edinburgh Fringe, the Henry Fonda Theatre in Hollywood, The Celebrity Theatre in Las Vegas and Bimbo’s 365
Club in San Francisco. She has danced upon the cobbled streets of Paris, and beneath the neon lights of Toyko. She has supported Nick Cave and Grinderman on their 2007 Australian tour – receiving the call the very day of the first show! A beloved muse of artists and writers, Lola posed for the 2009 Archibald Prize, has been photographed by renowned artist David Bromley and modelled for The Lola Show, a 2005 exbibition inspired by her performances. She features prominently in the two major books on the current burlesque era, “The Happy Stripper”, and “Burlesque and the New Bump and Grind”

Known in the industry as a ‘talent’, her way with media has cast her words from Irish radio to Australia’s JJJ, The San Francisco Chronicle to Morning’s with Kerri-Anne. Lola’s wealth of experience, and her academic background (she is the first performer in theatre history to perform burlesque for the award of PhD) see her regularly interviewed on topics of burlesque, performance and popular culture.

Lola is honoured to be a part of a rich and elaborate history of incredible and brazen performers, and pays tribute in her shows to the dancers who have paved her gilded way. Her jaw-dropping costumes, props and choreography are all carefully chosen for each act, designed to act as visual keys which transport the audience to another place. Lola The Vamp is an icon in the making
